HDPE Geomembrane welding


1.The welding process of the hot boring machine is divided into: adjusting the pressure, setting the temperature, setting the speed, checking the weld lap joint, loading the film into the machine, starting the motor, and welding the pressure.


2.There shall be no oil or dust at the joints. The overlap surface of the HDPE geomembrane shall not be covered with debris such as sand and mud. When there are debris, it must be cleaned before welding.


3.At the beginning of each day of welding, a 0.9mm×0.3mm sample must be first tested on the site, the overlap width is not less than 10cm, and the stripping and shearing test is carried out on site with a tensile machine. After the sample is qualified, it can be adjusted at that time. Good speed, pressure and temperature are exactly welding. The date, time and ambient temperature should be indicated on the sample. In the welding process, the hot welding machine needs to pay attention to the operation of the welding machine at all times, and the speed and temperature should be fine-tuned according to the actual situation on site.


4.Weld requirements are neat, beautiful, and there must be no slip welding or jumping.


5.When the length of the geomembrane is insufficient, long-distance splicing is required. The transverse welds should be welded first and then the longitudinal joints should be welded. The transverse welds should be T-shaped at a distance of more than 50cm, and should not be crossed.


6.Adjacent geomembrane welds should be overlapped as much as possible. The joints formed between the membranes should be T-shaped, minimize the cross shape, and the longitudinal mold should be strengthened by the extrusion welder at the intersection of the welds.


7.When the welding film is not allowed to die, when laying HDPE geomembrane, according to the local temperature variation range and HDPE geomembrane performance requirements, the amount of expansion and deformation caused by temperature change is reserved.


8.When the temperature of the welding machine indicated by the temperature control of the portable welding machine is lower than 200 °C, it should be scraped off with a clean cloth or cotton yarn and re-welded. If necessary, it should be re-polished.


9.When there is condensation, moisture, sediment, etc. at the joint, weld it after treatment.


10.Welding may not be carried out during rain or when there are moisture, dew, or heavy sand in the joints, except for protective measures.


11.When the temperature is lower than 5 °C, it should not be constructed according to the specifications. If it is necessary to be applied, the welder should be pre-heated before welding.


12.In the welding process, the slider of the gun head should be checked frequently during the welding process. When the wear is serious, the slider should be replaced in time to avoid damage to the membrane surface.


13.The geomembrane should be powered by a generator with good voltage regulation when welding. In the special case, when using local electricity, a voltage regulator must be used.
